Portumna.net was started in 2008 with the aim of providing regularly updated information for both local residents and visitors to the area.
The site is the first dedicated Portumna web site and provides weekly news, upcoming events, parish newsletter, as well as the opportunity for local clubs and groups to have their own pages on the site to provide their own news, photos etc.
The site also caters for visitors to the area through its tourist information section which includes an accommodation list, local attractions, maps, and information about the local tourist office.
The business directory provides a listing of local businesses in the area which can be sorted either by business name or the service provided. Businesses can also avail of their own full page on the site.
This initial version of the site is a learning process for all involved and will continue to be improved and upgraded with a new improved version of the site planned for mid 2009.
Portumna.net would like to thank all the local clubs, groups and businesses who have supported the site and made this project possible.
Thanks also to the following people who have helped get the site off the ground:
Jim Hynes for his help in promoting the site in the local area and also providing the weekly news updates.
Fr. Lawless and Bernie Leonard for providing the parish newsletter each week.
John Joe Conwell for writing a history of Portumna for inclusion in the site.
Portumna.net went online for the first time in July 2008 with just a few pages and has continually grown in terms of both content and popularity since then...
