Junior Golf Lessons
The dates are set for the Junior Golf Lessons at Portumna Golf Club, they will commence on Monday 4th July Wed. 6th Fri. 8Th Mon. 11th and Thursday 14th. The good news is we have a reduced and revised fee schedule. This is because we are receiving help from some committee members. The cost is as follows: one child €35, 2 Children €60 & 3 Children €90. The closing date for securing place and paying the fee is Friday 24th June. The money may be paid at the Clubhouse.

Regisration Afternoon
This year the Junior Convenors at Portumna Golf Club are building up the very successful Golf Academy from scratch. In order to be included in this new venture there is a registration afternoon on Tuesday 19th April from 5pm to 8pm in the clubhouse. If you have a child, boy or girl that may have an interest in playing golf come along that evening and learn more. Juniors still attanding National School can now join for €50. For more info contact 09097 41059 ext 1.

The Junior Golf section of Portumna Golf Club will hold their AGM this coming Saturday at 2pm in Clubhouse, hopefully parents and Junior Boys and Girls will attend. For more information call Jim 087 6411711. We hope to organise a golf camp during the summer months and lots more. All juniors still attending National can join now for €50.

Junior Golf Information
Junior Golf at Portumna GC is flourishing at the moment, we have over 90 members from all ages. In 2005 the management committee at the club adopted the Junior Golf Ireland Charter "'Code of Ethics for Golf for Young People"We have excellent facilities for coaching Juniors of all ages-beside the famous 17th green is a chipping and putting green with sand bunkers as well so you can keep your short game in focus. Also included is a practice ground adjacent to the 1st fairway, so all the facilities are in and around the clubhouse.
The Junior Convenor is Jim Hynes 087 6411711 and the committee are Mairead Taylor O Neill, Sharon Maloney, Ann Carty and Johanna Burke.
We are always looking for volunteers to join our helpers, and we envisage running a Leader Programme held over 1 day in order to train parents both male and female to help with the coaching. We will need about 10 people so if you are interested in becoming a Volunteer ring any of the committee.
Saturday mornings the "Junior Juniors" programme is implemented-this is an innovative idea and it is set up to teach junior boy's and girls from the ages of 6 to 11 years of age. It has proven very successful and we hope to keep it going through the Fall and the Winter.
On Saturdays the 1st tee is reserved from 3pm to 3.45pm for the more senior juniors in other words those kids that can get around the course without causing delays.
