Funding available to Community Groups for Eligible Capital Projects
Galway Rural Development Company (GRD) is currently funding awareness seminars for community groups, to provide information on opportunities available to them to achieve greater energy efficiency in community buildings and achieve cost reductions in their energy bills. The seminars will provide an overview of various cost saving mechanisms and typical alternative / renewable energy opportunities that can lead to the improvement of community buildings. They will also outline the proposed funding available through the LEADER Programme for Energy Assessments and the implementation of renewable energy/cost projects and other energy saving measures for Community Buildings.

This is an opportunity for communities to receive substantial grant aid, improve energy efficiency and achieve significant cost savings, which should be particularly attractive for eligible groups. Co-ordinated by WESTBIC, the initial Awareness Events will take place in the following locations:

Craughwell Community Centre: Monday 20th Feb 2012, 8pm – 9.30pm
Moylough Community Centre: Wednesday 22nd Feb 2012, 8pm – 9.30pm
Portumna Community Centre: Thursday 23rd Feb 2012, 8pm – 9.30pm

At the events, eligible groups can register for an Energy Assessment for their building(s) aimed at identifying opportunities for improvement, followed by guidance with making an application to GRD for up to 75% grant aid towards capital costs where appropriate. Please confirm your attendance by returning the confirmation slip below in the S.A.E provided, to Niamh Considine, WESTBIC, Galway Technology Centre, Mervue, Galway, Tel: 091 730850, or email info@westbic.ie.
