Portumna Scouts
Surf is up dude; well it was for the members of Portumna and Scouting Irelands first thirteen plus group, they travelled to Banna Beach in Co, Kerry where they spent the weekend surfing amongst other activities. Most of the group had never handled a surf board let alone got up on one, But that did not deter them as they made for the waves with gusto. Tom the surfing instructor from Kingdom Surfing school was very impressed with their efforts and was amazed to see so many surfing with confidence within the first hour. A combination of fitness, agility, bravery and determination saw the group succeed in this newfound sport. All agreed that the weekend was a great success and are looking forward to challenging the waves again sometime in the future. The scouts would like to thank the leaders Iain Foulger, Joan O Flaherty, Paddy Callahan and Dick and Liz Ridge who took the time to bring them away also the Banna Beach Hotel who made their fantastic facilities available to them during their stay.

Last year was a huge success as the school collected 150 boxes and we are hoping for an even bigger response this year.
