Giant Swap Shop - Raleigh International
Raleigh International (http://www.raleighinternational.org/) is a Youth Development Charity set up in 1978. Its aim is to complete community-based projects in developing parts of the world using volunteer resources, many of whom come from under- privileged backgrounds. In Raleigh’s own words, they are committed to “…inspiring people from all walks of life, ages and nationalities, involving them more deeply with people, places, communities and challenges, and empowering them to be all they can be. Our second commitment is working in partnership with local communities to make a much needed difference to their lives.” Olivia Housemeyer will be heading to Costa Rica & Nicaragua from 15th June to 15th September 2009 as the Deputy Programme Manager and will be responsible for the logistics of the expedition, the welfare of 100 Venturers and the development of the Staff looking after them. The "Giant Swap Shop" is a fun fundraiser that should appeal to ladies of all ages. Between 7:30pm and 9:30pm, Saturday 21st February, in Portumna Community Hall, we will be opening the doors for ladies to come in, enjoy a drink and some delicious canapés, and peruse a large number of items of clothing, jewellery, shoes and handbags. Each ticket (€25) will entitle the bearer to browse the rails and take home any two items from the Swap Shop, regardless of value. All proceeds will go to charity.
