Portumna Players - Stags and Hens
Portumna Players who have a long tradition of staging plays over the last 60 years or so, have chosen Willie Russells comedy/drama re the mating game. If you are thinking of getting hitched see this play beforehand you might learn some lessons from this bittersweet comedy following engaged couple Linda and Dave on their last night of freedom. The scene is a shabby city disco, on a night when 2 groups have arrived for a prenuptial celebration, but not together. The prospective groom is paralytic with drink and spends the entire evening collapsed in the gents. Next door is the ladies, where the bride to be and her friends are letting it all hang out totally oblivious to the males next door. The prospective bride reveals to her friends that she was so drunk when she accepted her fiance's proposal- she would have said yes to Dracula at the time. So you can see that the audience will be in for a good nights entertainment, we do not want to spoil your fun by revealing too much more. Curtains up at 8.30pm Friday 13th, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March. The play is directed by Ms Marian Frawley.
