Radio Killed the Video Star
It is always good to see a local lad do well, and John Shiel Jnr certainly fits that mould, left Portumna back in the 80s set up an educational software Company and sold it 1999, in 2005 he founded a Company called Catch it aims to help radio companies engage with their audiences and create new revenue streams in the process. The Company is based in Waterford and has world wide expectations following the lunch of its new media platform which can change the way people experience Radio. Called Radio 2.0 the new media platform links live broadcasts on the Radio with a website which has programme information as well as extensive information about singers including Videos, biographies and gig listings. This is a new Radio experience which allows listeners to engage with the content using technology they already own like their PC, mobile phone and MP3 players, for the first time you can nearly see the Radio. The new platform also connects radio with mobile phones. If someone hears a song on the Radio they want to identify can simply text the Radio to find out what it is. John is going global with his idea later in the summer, it will include the launch of a portal which allows radio audiences to interact with advertising the same way they interact with Music. Well done and good luck.
