Raheen National School
Renovations in the School were completed this year. The extension includes new classrooms, cloakrooms, staff room, kitchen and new toilet facilities. The official opening and blessing of the renovated School will take place on this Thursday 18th June. The celebration will begin with Mass in Quansboro Church at 4pm. The tape to the extension will be cut by one of the most senior Parishioners, John Joe Fahy. Then the School will be blessed by Bishop John Kirby. All parishioners and those associated with the School over the years are invited.

Eyrecourt Vintage Rally - Sunday June 21st, featuring Ford & Fordson West. Live music by Si Óg, working Steam Engines, Vintage Tractors & Cars, Stationery Engines, Butter making, Threshing, Bucking Bronco, Donkey Derby, Pony Rides, Dog Show, Helicopter Rides, Connaught League Tug of War Final, Pets Corner & Children's Entertainment Galore.


Summer Golf Camp
John Coyle PGA Professional, assisted by Ada Burke Irish girls International who is also a nurse, will run 2 Summer Camps for Junior Boys and Girls on July 14th - 17th and August 11th- 14th, 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon over 12s, 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. under 12s.


Portuma Red Cross - Fundraiser
The Irish red cross Portumna is holding a dance in the Shannon Oaks Portumna on Friday 19th June 2009 music by John Hogan and band 9.30 -1.30. Please support your local ambulance unit. Tickets €15 at door or ring 087 7527761. The Portumna branch of the Irish Red Cross are actively looking to recruit new members from 12 years up to adult.


Mid Summer reSession & BBQ at Sign Out Youth Cafe
The Sign Out committee have had a busy week putting the final line up together for the Mid Summer celebrations. Live Music will kick off at 5pm sharp with the Casey Brothers and friends, followed by groups travelling from as far away as Gort and Carraroe to our own local talented groups - Reef Stained, winners of the Connaght Final Coca Cola Blastbeat Competition, Anthem 42, Average at Best to name a few. All this is happening this Sunday, 21st June, Mid Summers Day from 5pm to 8pm. While enjoying this open air gig our team of chefs will keep the BBQ sizzling, come rain or shine. All ages are welcome, from the young to the not so young to drop in to Sign Out on the 21st June to support our local youth, enjoy good music, great BBQ and craic. The festivities will conclude at 8pm. This is Sign Out's first open air gig, not only providing a platform for youth bands but also giving people the opportunity to appreciate and support our local youth talents. The committee would like to thank all those involved for all their support from providing equipment to the bands, who are giving up their time so generously. This is a non alcohol event. Portumna GAA Notes
Lotto Results: Lotto Numbers for Saturday June 13th 2009 were 6. 15, 19 & 20. There was no Jackpot or Match Three winner. Donations will be made to St. Dympna’s and Portumna Social Services. Next week’s Jackpot will be €4200.00

Feile na nGael: Next Friday, Portumna welcome Naas Co. Kildare as their guests for Feile na nGael. They arrive on Friday afternoon and will be in Portumna Field for their first game at 3.00 p.m. Everybody is welcome to come to the field and watch the game. On Saturday, both clubs travel to Coolderry Co. Offaly to play two further games against the local side and the Down representatives. There are 24 players and three mentors staying with local families for the weekend and hopefully will enjoy themselves during their stay.

An Gairdin: Herb Walk and Talk with Joerg Mueller
The date is 27th June 11.00am - 5.00pm. The day will be spent outdoors identifying wild Edible and Medicinal Herbs growing right on our doorstep. Joerg will talk about the culinary and medicinal properties of the plants. Bring suitable outdoor footwear and clothes. Cost 45euro. For further information contact 09097416879

Presidents Prize: This coming Sunday is the Presidents Prize. The President Mr Des Lynch invites all members to play over the weekend, time sheet in operation.

Open Week: The annual Club Open Week starts on Saturday week the 27th June and continues until Sunday July 5th, there are competitions each day, time sheet in operation.
