Sign Out Youth Cafe Receives Funding from The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs
Following a recent application to the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, funding was allocated to 18 Youth Cafes nationally in a once off provision, to support existing youth projects in order to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free space for young people, Sign Out Youth Cafe were delighted to be informed during the week that their application was successful and €2000 has been approved. The Department of Children and Youth Affairs now estimates that between 75-100 youth café facilities operate across the state and are seen as hugely beneficial to local communities in terms of broader engagement with young people. Sign Out Youth Cafe is the only purpose built youth facility in the country offering the young people both indoor and outdoor activities in a safe fully supervised space. Sign Out Management Committee would like to acknowledge the support of Senator Fidelma Healy Eames and also her continued interest in the development of facilities for young people.

As well as winning the County Mayors Awards recently, Sign Out Youth Cafe was also nominated earlier in the year for the Leading Lights Awards for its Safe Tractor Driving Skills Programme in association with the FRS and Garda Traffic Corp - names are now being taken for this workshop which will run again in February, spaces limited. To celebrate a very active and successful 2011, Sign Out Youth Project would like to invite all its volunteers and committee members to 'Building on Success' Evening on Monday January 9th at 7pm. Flan Spaight of Sixth World Community Development and Lecturer with NUIG will facilitate the evening which promises to be light hearted, informative, social and fun. For further details on our programme, to register for any of our workshops or for pitch hire contact Susan 087 6779267.
