Mr Paddy Fahey speaking in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin after he was presented with the award, said he was very happy to have reached the last six finalists but when they were selected as the winning Nursing Home of the year it was really the icing on the cake, a tremendous achievement he said. He dedicated this win to all concerned with the day to day operation of the nursing home and had a special thanks to Eilish Butler, Director of nursing and to all the staff whose professionalism shone through and without their help and cooperation this award could not have been achieved.

Paddy, Ann, Management and Staff pride themselves in providing excellent care for all residents and to having achieved a home from home atmosphere for the residents to live there. This success could not have been achieved without the contribution made by our residents and their families and these are also thanked. The group will assist many more families to harvest their turf on their legally held private bog plots.

Galway & Portumna Hurling - Thank You
During the lead up to the All-Ireland Hurling final and indeed to this weekends club match against Turloughmore the town displayed their colors to the hilt. The streets were awash with color and this was mainly due to the efforts of a small group of people. So on behalf of Portumna Town and Community, Phil Coleman and Brenda McClearn wish to thank most sincerely all the individuals and business houses of Portumna for their generosity in contributing towards street decorations in support of the Galway Hurling team and the local hurling club. Three local hurlers were on the Senior Galway panel, Joe Canning, Andrew Smith and Damian Hayes.

A big thank you is also extended to Enda Coleman, Joe Moore, Philipa, Lorraine and Kieran whose manpower and patience was sincerely appreciated by everyone concerned. Gratitude is also extended to Dan Lynch and the Chamber of Commerce.
