Strictly Come Dancing
In just over a week it will be D Day for 32 enthusiastic dancers who have been in boot camp since September 21st. They are competing in the Strictly Come Dancing competition organized by Davitts camogie club in the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe on Saturday, November 2nd at 8.00pm.

The word around the Davitts area is that competition is very keen with the sixteen couples having clandestine meetings in Abbey, Ballinakill Woodford, Tynagh and Duniry, practicing until all hours. Family loyalty has been forgotten as Fiona Murphy hopes to get one over on daughter, Amy who partners Micheal Dervan in a stunning version of Dirty Dancing. Micheal is also looking over his shoulder as Grandad Ned is also one of the favourites along with his Fast Waltz partner, Marian Kiely. Also taking part are Shauna Dermody, Portumna, Tereasa Dunne Walker, Portumna, Fr Abe Kennedy, Duniry, Mary Lynch, Portumna, Sean Lynch, Lusmagh and Susanne Corcoran, Lorrha.

Choreographer, Lorraine Wynne from Tullamore has performed minor miracles with the dancers since her arrival and no one bats an eyelid at 360 degree lifts now. The €20 tickets are going fast as the night includes an exhibition of Irish dancing by a group of young world champion dancers, free finger food and a Disco with Eamon Hannon. Bruce Forsyth will not be present but then with Sean Walsh from Galway Bay FM as MC for the night he won't be missed. The panel of judges includes some local celebrities who will no doubt will keep the budding dancers' feet firmly on the ground.
