Laura Byrne: A Musician in the Making
A County Galway resident earns place on Dean's list at Berklee College of Music. Laura Byrne is the younger of two daughters of Gerry and Celine Byrne who are residents of Rossmore, Woodford, County Galway. Gerry and Celine run the new Antique and country living store in Portumna Co. Galway called 'The Cottage Store Antiques'(web:thecottagestoreantiques.com).

Laura achieved this academic accolade by scoring in the top five percent of students in the college. Laura is a classically trained pianist but has turned to contemporary music and her major is Songwriting. Laura is studying in London at the moment before returning to Boston to finish her studies in Berklee. Laura just turned 19 last week so is still very young and has a lot more studying to do yet. Laura performed her latest song 'Forget the Bad' at the homecoming christmas concert in Portumna last December.

Berklee College of Music was founded on the revolutionary principle that the best way to prepare for careers in music was through the study and practice of comtemperoery music. For over half a century, the college has evolved constantly to reflect the state of the art of music and the music business.
