Pre-Draft Submission
Portumna Chamber of Commerce met with businesses to discuss and debate the upcoming Pre-Draft Portumna Town Plan on Thursday 3rd July in the Town Hall. Submissions were due to be in on Friday 4th July. The business meeting was an urgent matter, due to the fact of Super Summer Fair being held the previous weekend, businesses did not get a chance to debate matters until the Thursday after, busy running a very successful Fair.

The towns people and other groups in Portumna had already had their submissions made after a very enlightening affair over the previous Saturday of Super Summer Fair organised by Portumna Chamber of Commerce. On the night submissions were debated as to how they would affect or improve business in Portumna. Other issues were also raised on the night and fully debated.

The meeting was a great success due to the fact of the attendance of so many businesses and all items such as a two hour free parking scheme, signage of Portumna, traffic calming, one way traffic systems, heritage town status and others were debated fully and voted on. All these topics had already being submitted by other parties to Pre-Draft Portumna Town Plan.

Portumna Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the businesses that attended and debated the issues at hand. The opinion of all businesses in the town is very important as they are not just businesses, but also residents, parents and customers of the town. Portumna Chamber of Commerce's submission to Galway County Council’s Pre-Draft Portumna Town Plan along with all the other submissions hopes to improve Portumna for the better in the future. Portumna needs to make more of it's potential and a proper Town Plan can assist Portumna realising this.

Membership of Portumna Chamber of Commerce is open to all businesses and membership forms are available by emailing portumnacc@gmail.com or if you have queries in which you think the Chamber may help then email us. www.portumnachamber.com

For four generations since 1870 they have been a vibrant and reliable part of the local community through good times and bad. With a healthy respect for the past they look forward to the future. They have recently revamped the ground floor and are now delighted to launch their latest venture “The Loft at Lynchs”. The loft is on their new look first floor and is an Aladdin’s cave of products suitable for your home: from floors to doors, from bathrooms to stoves for your living room. It is worth a call.
