Portumna Cycling Club - Fit Towns Launch
Portumna Cycling club Fit Towns initiative will begin on Wednesday 7 January at 8:00pm in O’Mearas with a talk from sports nutritionist Cathy O Sullivan. There will be a launch night taking place at Portumna Retirement Village on Wednesday 14 January at 7:30, all are welcome. Medical assessments will be carried out on participants by Dr Fahy and he will also be giving a talk on the night about the advantages exercising brings to your mental health. There will also be a Watt Bike present at the launch night to assess the cycling performance of participants from the outset. The Cycling Club initiative is aimed at people who are starting out or would like to improve their overall fitness, health and general well-being. There are a number of age categories from 13 to the over fifties. Entry is now open and will operate on a first come first serve basis. Portumna GAA
Lotto: There was no winner of last weekends lotto jackpot worth €4300. The numbers drawn were 1, 12, 20, 25. Two people matched three numbers Deirdre Burke, Jack O Flaherty. Next week’s lotto is worth €4400.
There was no winner of bonus lotto worth €1000 which took place over Christmas. 13 people matched three numbers. They receive €20 each.
The A.G.M. will take place on Sunday 18th January in the clubhouse at 2-30pm.


Community Education Support Scheme 2015
The Galway & Roscommon Education and Training Board will consider applications for grant aid or tuition hours under the Community Education support Scheme from Community and Voluntary Organisations active in Galway City and County up to 5 o clock on Monday 2 February 2015.
The aim of the Scheme is to aid communities in disadvantaged areas to participate in adult education courses that are community-based. Groups may apply for one of the following: (i) Tuition Hours or (ii) Grants. These grants are funded by the Department of Education and Skills and SOLAS.


Killimor GAA
Last week’s lotto numbers were 3, 6, 20 and 29. The jackpot was €9,200. Last week’s 5 lucky dip winners (€20) were David Treacy, Mikey Donnellan, Peter Egan, Helen Cormican and Ollie & John Reilly. Next week's jackpot is €9,300 which will be held in Kirwan's.


Events at Shorelines Arts Festival
An invitation is now made to all local people, groups and organisations to submit an application for an event during Shorelines Arts Festival 2015 September 17th-20th. Ideas for workshops, drama, performances or art projects are all welcome and can be emailed to info@shorelinesartsfestival.com. All applications must be received by Jan 31st 2015 to allow for planning, funding etc.


Yoga Classes
Ruth's yoga classes begin on Tuesday 13th January in An Gáirdín. Beginners Class is from 6.25 - 7.25pm for 10 weeks at 80euro. Some experience class is from 7.30 - 9.00pm costing 100euro for 10weeks. Satyananda yoga is suitable for women and men. It is a holistic system that brings balance between mind and body. Contact Ruth at 0872434759.
