'The Hub' - Information Evening
This Thursday the 11th June at 9pm Cllr Anne Rabbitte is holding an information evening in O'Meara's Portumna. In response to an inundation of representations made regarding the town development plan for an information station on the main street, Cllr Rabbitte is working on her own initiative to make this a reality. 'The Hub' will be able to direct visitors to our Tourist Information office at The Workhouse, but more importantly will provide people with vital information on upcoming education courses, along with advertising job opportunities and the 'Bridge-the-Gap' initiative. There will also be advertisement space for upcoming charity events and festivals to enable community groups to reach as many people as possible. Cllr Rabbitte said "This kind of endeavour will rely on cooperation and communication between businesses and communities in order for it to thrive- but make no mistake, as this venture thrives so will our communities and our local economies. It's time we put ourselves back on the map. So I implore anyone who has a vision for a brighter future to attend the meeting and get informed".
The meeting will outline the intended purpose of 'The Hub' and highlight how businesses both big and small, local organisations and clubs will be able to utilize the space to their advantage and get their name out there. This meeting is for everyone! The office will not just serve Portumna but will support Tynagh, Abbey, Duniry, Woodford, Gurteeny, Mullagh, Coose, Killimor, Loughrea, Gort, Athenry, Lorrha and Terryglass.
It is extremely important to have a good tun out on the night so that everyone has a clear picture going forward of how 'The Hub' can benefit and help grow their business and communities.
