Tiernascragh National School
There were many celebrations during the week at Tiernascragh National School as the school celebrated the awarding of both a Green Flag for environmental awareness and a Get Active flag for the school's comprehensive fitness and wellbeing program. The awarding of both flags this year has come after a year of diligent commitment from both teachers and the pupils in the school. This is the first year that the school has entered for these programs. Speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony, Principal Melanie McNamara spoke of her pride in all the pupils and praised them for their enthusiasm and commitment to attaining both flags.

The Hub
Two weeks ago saw the launch of 'The Hub' on the main street of Portumna. A community centred initiative designed to bring vital information to as many people as possible. While 'The Hub' will act as a directional tool to the Tourist Information office in the Workhouse, it's main aim is to supply the public with information on jobs, upcoming courses and important services available in the area.It will also highlight community and business events- everything from festivals to charity fundraisers to upcoming offers. Cllr Anne Rabbitte will also hold clinics in a private office on the premises, times of which will be displayed on the door of 'The Hub' each week.
'The Hub' also offers the unique opportunity to rent desk space for fledgling businesses where they can work for a number of hours a week and meet with clients without the huge overheads involved in renting office space alone. One such entrepreneur availing of this fantastic opportunity is Orla Kennedy- who is renting desk space to grow her media marketing business 'OK Media Marketing & Consultancy'. Orla works with old, new or lapsed businesses of any size to ensure they are not left behind in the ever changing world of media marketing. Her services include website design, brand building and engagement, and raising product awareness. If you wish to contact Orla for more information or to book a consultation, her office hours are on 'The Hub' window or you can email her on okmediamarketing@gmail.com or phone: 085 1903246.
