Please Help Light up Christmas in Portumna
Portumna Chamber of Commerce has taken up the task of lighting up Portumna once more this Christmas. They are appealing to the public as well as the business community for their support in keeping Portumna lit for the festive season.
Unfortunately, last year a number of problems occurred with the existing lights (which are now over 15 years old) blowing bulbs, electrical shorts and cable disintegrating. The electricians have advised the Chamber that the current lights are unsafe, irreparable and uneconomical to continue using. Also the existing power point wall boards are unsafe, dated and need to be upgraded. It is therefore necessary to take action and purchase new lights for this year.
The costs of lighting up Portumna this Christmas will be in the region of €10,000. To achieve this, we need financial support. Collection boxes will be placed in Portumna Post Office, Bank of Ireland, Ladies Day Boutique, The Hub, The Beehive restaurant, Palmerston Stores, Dan Lynch & Sons Hardware.
All donations from the public no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.

The AGM of Portumna Camogie Club will be re-convened on this Friday, 27th November at 8.00pm at Portumna GAA Club meeting room. It is necessary to re-convene the meeting as at the scheduled AGM there were insufficient nominations to allow key committee posts to be filled.
It is imperative for the continuation of the Camogie Club in 2016 that people are prepared to share the work load of running the club. The players derive great enjoyment and benefit from training, playing as part of a team and of representing their parish. This facility for girls within the parish must continue, but your assistance in making this happen is now required.
All members of Portumna Camogie Club, potential members, parents of players and those interested in the future of camogie in Portumna are urged to attend on Friday night.
