Nangiro’s Story:

Nangiro lives in Turkana, a part of Kenya, which is a land of little luxury and few comforts. He lives with his father Francis, and three other siblings. Just a year ago his mother died in childbirth. Nangiro seems to be silent and reflective in nature. There is a deep sense of quiet to his actions and his manner. This may come from twelve years of relative Turkana solitude that has been his life story to this point. The rhythm of daylight, the animals, chores, finding pasture and water, and nightfall are sown into his life story and his very essence.

Lord, help me to remember Nangiro, his family and the countless others Like them during lent. May I become more reflective and seek places of silence During this season where you can speak to me. Give me the courage to make Changes in my life and in my use of the limited resources of this earth. In this way Nangiro and millions of others around the world will enjoy a better quality of life And a more just share in the fruits of the earth.
