Thomas’s Story:

Thomas is 8 years old and is in class 3 in lower primary school He is Nika’s older brother. His favourite subject is maths because it is easy to count and he wants to be a shopkeeper. Thomas also likes to help his family by collecting water from the river. He eats one meal of brown rice a day at 1pm in school which is part of a feeding programme. Thomas can get clean water at school where there are three tanks- one for drinking, cooking, and one for the community. When there is drought the children don’t attend school as they need to accompany their animals to water sources further away.

Prayer:

Lord, every day I wash myself, make tea and cook using the water that comes from the tap in my house. Teach me to be grateful for this facility and to use this resource with care, keeping Thomas and his family in mind. Refresh my heart that may have grown selfish and dry with the renewing waters of generosity and charity. May I have humility to draw on the unending supply of your love and mercy.
