Thought for the Day
Within each of us, we find that goodness only grows very slowly. Side by side with our better selves, weakness and evil continue to survive within us. In today’s gospel Christ gives us a message of hope and stresses the need for patience and endurance. Even though, despite our best efforts, we find the darnel of sin and selfishness still in our lives, the main crop of goodness will bring a harvest of reward. Christ’s message to day is that the seedlings of goodness may have to grow in the midst of the weeds of selfishness.

Hosted the u10 finals last week-end. Clubs from east Galway took part in the competition and judging from the standard of hurling that was displayed on the day, hurling in Galway will be alive for many years to come. Well done to Portumna u10 team who beat Mullagh in their final. A big thank you to all the people who helped out on the day to make the day very successful.
Portumna Town FC:
Are holding an important meeting with parents of children involved with the club on Friday the 25th July at 8.30pm. At least one parent of each child is required to attend the meeting. Parents of children who are intending to join in August are also requested to attend the meeting. The meeting will be held in the Shannon Oaks hotel and will finish at 9.30pm. Due to matters that arose over the course of last year and recent developments concerning the future of the club it is vital that parents demonstrate their support for the club by attending this meeting.
