Stations
There has been a great tradition of stations in our parish. It was due to the people that the stations played such an important part of our community. I believe they are well worth preserving and developing in every way. The stations are not as attended as in previous times. We have 10 town stations and 13 country stations. Station dues are €5 to be returned to the church. All town stations will take place on the one evening Tuesday 10th March at 7.30pm. The Theme for the stations is “Repent and return to God”. Station mass in the country station area either in autumn or during lent (2009). With our reduced manpower your co-operation and support is greatly appreciated. Refreshments at stations should be simple and modest. Further details from the parish office 090-9741092.

Question
Is there any special grace or protection attached to the ashes on ash wed?
(A) The ashes are a reminder of our mortality. Taking ashes on the forehead is a sign that one is going to do something special for lent: maybe a self-denial, more prayer, a contribution to the poor, doing more at home, etc. As the ashes are blessed we pray for a strengthening of those who receive them.
