The Sick
The Priests of the Parish would be grateful to know about people who are sick. We would like to pray for them at mass (privately) and when possible visit the hospital. Unless a family member tells us, we cannot be expected to know. When parents of parishioners who live outside our parish die, the Priests would like to have information from family or neighbours.
Saturday Evening Vigil Mass Time Change
Saturday evening vigil mass will change from 8pm to 7.30pm. Starting from the 1st Sunday of advent 28th Nov.
Padre Pio Mass & Benediction
On Friday 27th Nov at 7.30pm. We also pray for all bereaved. There is a remembrance tree in the sanctuary of the church and people who were bereaved in the past year are invited to write the name of their bereaved ones on the tags. We will also have candles for those who died during the year. Also we remember all babies and children of the parish who died by miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or cot death or by accident and anybody who lost a child at any stage of life.
Portumna Forest Park
Will be closed on Thursday 26th & Fri 27th & Sat 28th Nov for deer culling. Forest Park re-opens Sat 28th at lunch time.
Portumna Christmas Events Committee
Are asking the people to support our church gate collection on Sat 28th & Sun 29th Nov. Santa will visit Portumna Castle on Sun 6th Dec to meet and greet all our children. Thanks to all our new & enthusiastic members. Full details of the event will be announced closer to Sun 6th Dec.
Holy Family Nursing Home - Killimor
Is having an open day this Sunday 22nd Nov. From 2-6pm. Advisors on hand to discuss the fair deal. All Welcome.
Support the Local
Developing our Parish means that we support everything “local”. Communities are under threat today from larger centres. We all depend on local enterprise and business. It should not take a crisis to make us aware. Support for local business and community effort is a vital sign of a Living Parish. Traders should be competitive in their prices.
Portumna Castle Crafts & Garden Annual Craft Fair
In the Shannon Oaks hotel this Sunday 22nd Nov. From 11am- 6pm. Admission free. All welcome.
Afternoon Tea Dance
In the Town hall, Portumna on Sunday 13th Dec from 3pm- 6pm.

Stroke Support Group
Meeting to be held in the Health Centre, Ballinasloe on Wed 25th Nov at 7pm. Topic: Advise on the swine Flu. Speaker: Mary Diskin Clinical Nurse Specialist Stroke Care.The annual Christmas party for our stroke support group will be held on Thursday 10th Dec in the Health Centre, Ballinasloe from 7-9pm. All patients, family members and friends welcome. Music & Refreshments on the night.
Charity Christmas Flower Demonstration - “Not to be Missed”
In the Shannon Oaks hotel on Thursday 26th Nov at 8pm by world medalist Anne O’Hare, Nenagh. In aid of Ability West. Tickets on Admission & €10.
