Special Mention
To Barney O’Reilly who recently retired from water safety after fifty years. Barney has taught many generations of Portumna locals and surrounding areas how to swim, including bringing them to a professional standard and achieving the highest lifeguard awards. Barney gave his time voluntarily for this, we would like to acknowledge his generosity, commitment & dedication to Irish Water Safety and thank him for his work. Weight Watchers
Meetings are held every Monday (including bank holidays) in Acorn to Oak Creche, St. Brigid’s Rd, Portumna. 7pm for men and women and 8.15pm for men only. New members welcome.
Gortanumera Development Says “Thanks”
To all who helped make its recent Race Night a great success. We are most grateful to those who sponsored races, those who sold horses and those who bought horses or backed them. Sponsors will be thanked individually; we also thank prize-donors and the many volunteers who helped out on that night. All can rest assured that funds raised go towards ongoing development of amenities in Gortanumera.
Portumna GAA - Lotto & News
There was no winner of last Saturday night’s lotto jackpot worth €5,500. The numbers drawn were. 2-9-23-26. Two people matched three numbers. Mike Brady and Adrian Hogan. Best of luck to Galway Senior team and management on Sunday in league final. Especially to the eight lads from Portumna on the panel.
Official opening of Clubhouse will take place on Sunday 9th May. Blessing at 1.30pm followed by unveiling of plaque by Gerry Larkin, Galway County Board Chairman. Followed by a family fun day.
